Video Game Ratings

Games are great gifts to give to children of all ages, for their birthdays or Christmas. You can only see their little faces are now filled with so much joy, and they jump right in and give you a big hug. It is one of the best feelings. But it can get really tough when you’re trying to pick the right game. There are so many different video game systems you can buy for them, or games for the systems they already have, such as the Playstation 2, PSP, Playstation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Gamecube, Nintendo DS, Gamboy Advance, and my favorite Wii.

ESRB Game Ratings

It is important then that you are looking to buy a game for one of the game systems that you check for genres, ratings and reviews. There are so many games out there that have too much violence, blood and are simply not meant for the age you are looking to buy.

Rating is one of the most important things you should consider when you are buying games for kids, especially those that are not your own. You will see the rankings are right on the back cover of the game and they are generally rated E, E10, T and M. It is important that you understand which ratings are meant for which age group. So here are the rankings and their meanings.

E = Everyone E10 = Everyone over 10 T = Teenagers M = Adults (this game can be very mature)

It’s easy to buy games for the wrong system, especially if the child you are buying is not your own. There are so many systems for the same company – like the Xbox and the Xbox 360. And many Xbox games won’t work for the Xbox 360 system and vice versa. The same goes for Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 games, they are not compatible for every game. But no Playstation 3 games will work on Playstation 2 at all.

Seeing the sheer number of online reviews makes purchasing games a lot easier. They will have scores next to them on multiple sites so you can easily see which games will be good.

Buying games for kids of all ages is easy to do and you should have no problem at all finding games that your kids, your sisters ‘children or your friends’ children will be very excited to accept.
